I keep having to give myself a pinch. Last summer it felt like the move to Worthing might never happen and I spent time and energy managing my own expectations in case it never did.
We were gutted when we realised we wouldn’t get over here until deep into Autumn. But it’s been wonderful to see our first Spring in our pretty, sunshiny garden. To realise why the previous owners of our house had a curtain rail in the kitchen, and to start ‘doing’ the beach after school.
We discovered The Dome Vintage Tearoom this week (and thoroughly recommend their toasties, chips and posh rose lemonade served with a dollop of grace and good humor). And we had our first play of the year in the sprayers by Seagull Island play park. We also took our first dip in the sea with B’s new SUP board on a blowy Sunday and are looking forward to a beachy, sporty summer.
I’m so grateful for all that we have and being here and living just by a gorgeous beach makes it all the better.
Six months in and I’m so glad we made the move. Even with a horrible, complicated commute for school and work (the girls are at different schools in Worthing and Hove respectively, and I work in Falmer), I don’t regret the decision to come here for a minute.
In fact it seems every week, we find something wonderful and new.
